The U.S. stock market opened higher Monday ahead of President Donald Trump's infrastructure plan.
The Dow Jones added 232 points, or almost 1 percent, to begin trading at 24.423 points. The S&P 500 was up 23 points, or 0.9 percent, to start the day at 2,643 points.
The Nasdaq increased 62 points, or 0.9 percent, to open at 6,936 points.
Trump is expected to announce in the White House later about the federal government's plan to spend $200 billion over 10 years for the U.S.' aging infrastructure.
The administration hopes the initial spending would pave the way for new investment from state and local governments, as well as the private sector, that would be around $1.5 trillion in total.
