Finland's Fortum 100-megawatt solar plant was connected to the Indian grid on Thursday to more than double the company's solar production capacity in India.
The Pavagada solar park in the Tumkur district of Karnataka in southern India was connected to the grid.
The plant's capacity was raised from 85 megawatts to 185 megawatts, according to Fortum India.
'I am especially proud that we once again completed our solar project on time and according to plan,' said Sanjay Aggarwal, managing director of Fortum India.
Based on its strategy, Fortum seeks to allocate its planned growth capital in the range of €200–€400 million in solar projects in India.
