The 38th meeting of the EU-Turkey Joint Consultative Committee will take place in Brussels on Monday with the participation of TOBB President Rifat Hisarciklioglu and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs of Turkey Faruk Kaymakci.
The Foreign Affairs Council will meet on Monday in Luxembourg where the council will start with a discussion on current affairs and review issues on the international agenda. Ministers will also discuss Afghanistan, the Eastern Partnership and the situation in Venezuela.
The European Parliament’s Civil Liberties Committee will vote on Monday on a legislative proposal that will oblige internet providers to remove terrorist content within one hour following an order from authorities. The draft bill supports the introduction of sanctions of up to 4% on the related provider companies’ global turnover.
The General Affairs Council will gather in Luxemburg on Tuesday to discuss the latest developments on Brexit ahead of the special European Council (Art. 50) on Wednesday, April 10. The Council will also hold a policy debate on the next multiannual financial framework. Ministers will discuss the state of play regarding the rule of law in Poland and respect for EU values in Hungary. Furthermore, ministers will focus on the upcoming European Parliament elections on May 23-26.
European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will co-host the 21st EU-China summit in Brussels on Tuesday. Premier Li Keqiang will represent China at the summit, the aim of which is to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Participants will discuss bilateral trade and investment relations, including fair and non-discriminatory treatment of their economic operators.
EU and China participants are expected to reaffirm their commitment to multilateralism with the UN at its core. They are also expected to address issues of connectivity, sustainable development cybersecurity, including the security of 5G networks.
EU27 leaders will meet in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments on Brexit.
