U.K.'s National Trust plans to invest £30 million ($47 million) in country's renewable energy towards the country's 2020 targets, organization announced Monday.
'We’re making our biggest ever investment in renewable energy to heat and power more of the historic places we look after,' said the organization's press release.
The investment is important to aid in reaching the renewable targets, the organization said.
U.K. aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, cut energy usage by 20 percent and source 50 percent of country's energy from renewable sources by 2020.
A 200 kilowatt lake source heating project which will help save 68 tonnes of CO2 per year and a 250 kilowatt hydro scheme which will provide an income stream to support conservation work, are among projects to receive funding.
Additionally, two biomass boilers at Upton House in Warwickshire will be used to heat the mansion and other areas, saving an estimated 55 tonnes of CO2 per year.
