French multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi and French-based utility company SUEZ Environment have signed an agreement on Thursday to work on water and waste management in France and abroad.
The companies will firstly focus on modernizing and increasing the capacity of the wastewater treatment station at the biochemical site in Seine-Maritime in the upper Normandy region of northern France. Secondly it will build a waste-to-energy and volatile organic compound treatment unit for the chemicals site in Sisteron in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the south of France.
According to the statement, the companies aim to optimize economic and environmental performance over a three-year period with the possibility of a renewal.
Sanofi, a global healthcare leader, discovers, develops and distributes therapeutic solutions focused on patients' needs.
SUEZ Environment supplies 92 million people with drinking water, provides 65 million with sanitation services and offers waste collection services for nearly 50 million people.
The company recovers 14 million metric tons of waste and produces and generates 5.13 gigawatts hours of local renewable energy annually.
