A memorandum of understanding to build a gas pipeline to transfer natural gas from Israel to Europe will be signed on Tuesday in Greek-administered Cyprus, according to local media on Sunday.
Local media reported that when complete, the pipeline is set to be the longest in the world.
The pipeline is expected to connect Israel's Leviathan gas field via the Aphrodite gas field in Greek administered Southern Cyprus through the waters of Crete, Greece and Italy.
According to Israel's Ministry of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources, the pipeline will be 2,000 kilometers long, will carry around 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year, and will be completed by 2025.
The cost of the natural gas pipeline is forecast to be about $6 billion.
