Turkey imported nearly 2 million tonnes of crude oil in January, 19.66 percent more compared to January 2015, according to data published by the energy watchdog on Thursday.
Diesel imports dropped by 25.24 percent to about 662 thousand tonnes while aviation fuel imports decreased by 99.67 percent to 101 tonnes in January, according to the Turkish Energy Regulatory Market (EPDK).
Export of gasoline type fuels fell below 280 thousand tonnes, in the first month of 2016.
Diesel export surpassed 6,500 tonnes, rising by more than 308 percent compared to January 2015 levels.
Production of total oil refinery products increased by 40.45 percent to 2.4 million tonnes.
Diesel type fuel production rose to about 822 thousand tonnes while gasoline type fuel output reached close to 440 thousand tonnes in January 2016.
Domestic sale of total oil products rose by 0.16 percent to over 1.7 million tonnes.
In January, sales of gasoline and diesel type fuels surpassed 145 thousand tonnes and 1.4 million tonnes respectively.
