Nuclear power experts from around the world gathered in Wilmington in the U.S. state of North Carolina on Wednesday for an annual symposium hosted by Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF), General Electric said.
'The symposium provides our customers who operate nuclear power plants around the world the opportunity to exchange technical information, share best practices and collaborate on common issues,' said Amir Vexler, CEO of GNF, a GE-led joint venture with Japan's Hitachi Ltd.
'This is an important event that affords us the opportunity to connect with fuel engineers and nuclear plant operators to help deepen our knowledge and understanding of their needs and advance our partnerships in delivering technology and performance,' Vexler added.
Participants in the two-day symposium include fuel design, fuel reliability and reactor engineers, according to a press release.
More than 20 technical presentations are on the agenda regarding topics such as fuel reliability, core monitoring, digital solutions and regulatory issues, it said.
There will also be presentations about the recent deployment of GNF's ARMOR and IronClad accident tolerant fuel solutions, as well as the upcoming delivery of GNF3 fuel assembly to two U.S. utility customers of GNF.
The event is being held at the Coastline Conference and Event Center in downtown Wilmington.
Global Nuclear Fuel, 'a world-leading supplier' of boiling water reactor fuel and fuel-related engineering services, operates primarily through Global Nuclear Fuel-Americas, LLC in Wilmington, N.C., and Global Nuclear Fuel-Japan Co., Ltd. in Kurihama, Japan.
