The Nordex Group is strengthening its presence in Argentina with its second order from AES Generacion S.A. for a 83-megawatt (MW) wind farm project in the southwestern province of Neuquen, the German company said Tuesday.
The agreement is for the supply of 24 AW132/3465 turbines for the Vientos Neuquinos wind farm. Nordex will also service the turbines for a period of at least two years.
In September, AES Generacion S.A., a subsidiary of the energy provider AES Corporation, had placed an order with Nordex for the supply of 30 AW132/3300 turbines for the Energetica wind farm located in the province of Buenos Aires near Bahia Blanca.
For both projects, the turbines and the 120-meter concrete towers will be produced locally in Argentina.
According to the statement, the Nordex Group has an installed wind power capacity of more than 23 gigawatts in over 25 markets, generating sales of around €3.1 billion in 2017.
The production network comprises plants in Germany, Spain, Brazil, the United States and India, and the product range primarily concentrates on onshore turbines in the 1.5 to 4.8 MW class addressing the requirements of land-constrained as well as grid-constrained markets.
