The U.S. announced Friday a delegation led by Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will visit Beijing next week for trade talks.
Lighthizer and Mnuchin will hold principal-level meetings Feb. 14-15 in the Chinese capital, the White House said in a statement.
The talks will be preceded by deputy-level negotiations beginning Feb. 11 led by Deputy Trade Representative Jeffrey Gerrish.
The U.S. and China wrapped up the last round of trade negotiations last week in Washington amid a 90-day pause in the countries' trade war agreed to by President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
The cease-fire expires March 2 at which point U.S. tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese imports are set to climb to 25 percent.
Trump said Thursday it is unlikely he will meet with Xi before the deadline.
