The Nordex Group has been awarded a contract to supply and install 35 N149/4.0-4.5 wind turbines for a wind farm project in southeast Australia, the German manufacturer announced Tuesday.
According to the group's statement, the order for the Mortlake South Wind Farm project in the state of Victoria was placed by Acciona Energy Australia in the first quarter of 2019.
It is also the first order placed by the company for turbines from Nordex' Delta4000 series, as well as the second international order for the N149/4.0-4.5 turbines after the 166.4-megawatt pooled wind farm project in southern Argentina, which was announced on Monday.
'In addition to our successful sales in Europe, we are now increasingly meeting with significant interest in the N149 turbine in other international sales regions, like recently in Argentina and now in Australia. This order is yet another indication of the confidence placed in our state-of-the-art technology,' said Patxi Landa, chief sales officer of the Nordex Group.
According to the press release, infrastructure works have already commenced on the farm and completion of the project is expected in mid-2020. The farm is expected to power some 115,000 households and offset nearly 532,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
The Nordex Group has installed 370 megawatts in Australia and has had a branch in Melbourne since July 2017.
Overall, the group has installed more than 25 gigawatts of wind energy capacity in over 40 markets, and in 2018 generated revenues of around €2.5 billion.
