The refinery at Iran's South Pars Phase 13 gas development project is ready for startup, the oil ministry's news outlet Shana reported Tuesday.
Quoting the operator of the project, Payam Motamed, Shana said the onshore refinery of the phase had the capacity to produce 56.6 million cubic meters of gas per day (mcm/d).
Speaking to Shana, Motamed said all units of the facility are complete and ready for official inauguration, adding Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is scheduled to officially launch the refinery soon.
He said Phase 13 is being developed with an investment of nearly $5 billion, and can generate $5 million per day when it is fully operational.
Iran's Oil Ministry announced on Twitter the same day that Iran is to launch four new phases of the supergiant South Pars gas field with 110 mcm/d of production capacity. No further details were provided.
