Gazprom may increase its output by 80-115 billion cubic meters by 2035 from the current 497.6 billion cubic meters gas, thanks to developing projects in new regions, the company's board member Oleg Aksyutin said on Tuesday.
Gas output is expected to increase by 16 to 23 percent from the current level by 2035, which according to Russian news agency, Aksyutin said was because of developing gas extraction in new regions.
'We are currently in talks on possibly increasing gas supplies via the Power of Siberia pipeline, as well as supplies through new projects - the Power of Siberia 2 - and through the Far Eastern route. If new projects are implemented by 2035, our company may become the largest supplier on the Chinese market,' Aksyutin said.
Aksyutin noted that China is the most dynamically developing gas market in the world, and is where Russian gas deliveries will start on Dec. 1.
'A historic event will take place - a meeting between the two leaders [Russia's Vladimir Putin and China's Xi Jinping] on the global gas market,' he said.
The Power of Siberia gas pipeline will pump natural gas from the giant Chayanda oil and gas condensate deposit in Yakutia and the Kovykta gas condensate field in the Irkutsk region in Eastern Siberia to deliver gas to the domestic market and further on for exports to China.
The so-called Eastern Route targets the supply of 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China’s eastern regions annually within 30 years to be launched at the end of 2019.
The Western route also aims to send 30 billion cubic meters of gas per annum to China.
