International Benchmark Brent crude traded at $77.74 per barrel at 07.11 GMT, while American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) saw prices of $69.73 per barrel on Monday.

The oil rig count in the U.S. showed an increase last week, according to oilfield services company Baker Hughes data on Friday. The number of oil rigs in the country rose by two for the week ending Aug. 31, the data showed.
This brought the total number of oil rigs in the U.S. to 862 this week, from 860 the week before.
After the rise in oil rig count, crude oil prices posted some losses on the global market.
According to international media, output from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) rose by 220,000 barrels per day (bpd) between July and August, to a 2018-high of 32.79 million bpd.
