The United States should “just get over loss of Iran,” Iran's foreign minister said Thursday, mocking Washington’s top diplomat who vowed to keep the pressure on Tehran.
“Whenever/wherever US interferes, chaos, repression & resentment follow,” Javad Zarif wrote on Twitter.
“The day Iran mimics US clients & @SecPompeo's ‘human rights models’—be it the Shah or current butchers—to become a “normal' country is the day hell freezes over,” he added.
“Best for the US to just get over loss of Iran,” the Iranian minister said.
On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in the Amman, Jordan, that Washington will maintain pressure on Iran despite its planned troop withdrawal from Syria.
“You will see in the coming days and weeks that we are doubling not only diplomatic but commercial efforts to put real pressure on Iran to achieve what it is we set out for them back in May,” Pompeo said.
