Natural gas-rich Russia, the European Union and Ukraine agreed to meet to discuss extra natural gas deliveries, according to European Commission (EC) Vice President of the Energy Union
Maros Sefcovic said in a meeting in Moscow that the trilateral meeting would take place in Brussels next month.
In addition, he also confirmed that a $500-million credit agreement from the World Bank to Ukraine is about to finalized to support the country for its energy requirements.
In a press conference after the Moscow meeting, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said the next round of trilateral Russia-EU-Ukraine talks on gas would focus on additional natural gas deliveries and the implementation of new contracts for the autumn and winter seasons.
In addition Novak added that 'we have discussed the Nord Stream 2 project, TurkStream, its current form and the direction it should take.'
In the meanwhile, late on Thursday, the European Commission (EC) and Ukraine's Energy Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the aim of strengthening energy cooperation between the two sides.
The new agreement will broaden the cooperation in all areas, including energy efficiency and renewable energy, as well as aim to create more positivity for investors.
