General Assembly of Turkish Parliament approved the legislative proposal which amends the electricity market law, on Saturday.
Law amendment contains substantive alterations regarding power supply security, electricity production alternatives including natural gas, renewable, nuclear and regulation, approved by General Assembly of Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
Regarding the important role of natural gas in electricity generation, new legislation aims to increase natural gas storage capacity of Turkey for the possibility of natural gas supply problems.
Country will increase it's national natural gas storage capacity in five years and it will be at least 10 percent of it's annual natural gas import, according to the new law.
Turkish Energy Ministry will demand components which are made in Turkey for renewable energy facilities and the percentage of domestic products will be determined later via directives and regulations, according to the law amendment.
New electricity market law prohibited construction plans which can effect the renewable energy productivity in the renewable energy source areas. Moreover, urgent expropriation will be implemented, if an area determined as renewable energy source area.
Electricity market legislative proposal which passed into law after that approval and it will be affective after it published in Turkish Official Gazette.
