Turkish construction and energy company, Ic Ictas entered the highest bid of $2.671 billion for two thermal power plants - Kemerkoy and Yenikoy, located in the south western province of Mugla on Friday.
The Turkish government will assess the value of the bid and decide whether to approve it or not.
Two years ago, Seyitomer thermal plant, which has half the capacity (600 megawatts output capacity) was privatized for $2.2 billion.
Around the same time, Kangal thermal plant, which also has around half the capacity (457 megawatts output capacity) was privatized for around $1 billion.
Turkey's privatization administration will assess the bid, which was delayed for three months because of the March local elections.
Kemerkoy thermal plant has 3 units each which produce 630 megawatts. Yenikoy thermal plant has 2 units which produces 420 megawatts. Both plants use lignite and produce more than 1000 megawatt of energy. There are a total of 22 thermal plants in Turkey.
