China's coal production stood at 310 million tons in September, up 5.2 percent on an annual basis, according to official figures released on Friday.
Last month, the average daily production hit 10.2 million tons, an increase of 630,000 tons, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said. From January to September, the output of raw coal was 2.59 billion tons, marking a year-on-year increase of 5.1 percent.
Last month, coal imports stood at 25.14 million tons, down 3.54 million tons from August, and 7.2 percent year-on-year, the NBS added.
Imports in the first nine months, on the other hand, reached 230 million tons, up 11.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
-Crude oil production and imports fall
China's crude oil production was hit by by the typhoon Mangosteen, and stood at 15.18 million tons, down 2.4 percent on an annual basis.
Last month, the average daily output was 506,000 tons, a drop of 1 million tons. Furthermore, the amount of crude oil production from January to September was down 1.9 percent compared to the same period last year, standing at 141.13 million tons.
Crude oil imports were down on a monthly basis and up year-on-year, according to the data. In September, imports hit 37.21 million tons, a decrease of 1.17 million tons from the month of August, but showed a year-on-year increase of 0.5 percent.
Imports in the first nine months of the year were up 5.9 percent on an annual basis, hitting 336.41 million tons.
- Gas output and imports up
According to the statistics, last month, China produced 12.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, up 8.5 percent year-on-year. The production between January and September also increased to reach 116.2 billion cubic meters, up 6.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
Gas imports also continued to grow on an annual basis, according to the data. In September, natural gas imports hit 7.62 million tons, marking a 28.3 percent increase year-on-year, while the country imported 64.78 million tons of gas in the first nine months of the year, an annual increase of 34 percent.
- Power production up
In September, power generation hit 548.3 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), marking a year-on-year increase of 4.6 percent. However, the growth rate was 2.7 percentage points lower than that of the previous month, the NBS said, adding the average daily power generation was 18.28 billion kWh, a decrease of 23.8 points compared to August.
From January to September, power generation increased by 7.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to the report, thermal power was up 3.7 percent in September compared to the same month last year, while hydropower grew by 4.1 percent.
Nuclear and solar power generations also increased on an annual basis, rising by 12.8 percent and 2.9 percent, respectively.
Wind power had the biggest growth rate at 13.5 percent compared to September 2017.
